Dipali Banerji was born in Kolkata to Smt. Shobha Das and Sri. Premananda Das Mohanta. Her trysts with music began at a very early age as there was a music school at her home. Extensive lessons in classical music started at the age of six with myriad stage performances very early in childhood. She completed her Sangeet Prabhakar from Allahabad and was bestowed with the degree of Sangeet Visharad (Chandigarh) when she was mere fourteen.

She was trained under the able-guidance of Smt. Mandira Lahiri, a respected name in classical and semi-classical genre. She also received training from Pandit Shyamal Lahiri and Smt. Purabi Dutta. Completing her M.A. in Music from the highly esteemed Rabindra Bharati University, she was also performing with Prof. V. Balsara’s group.

As a teenager she was singing jingles, cover versions for All India Radio, Devotional and modern songs in various TV shows and even Nazrulgeeti. No wonder she soon got to perform in several Doordarshan channels, winning awards in various musical competitions.

Dipali was fortunate enough to be wedded to a family of renowned musicians. Her husband Sri. Prabhat Banerji is a coveted classical singer and trainer who has always been a potent source of inspiration for her. Sri Banerji inherits great music heritage from his father Sri. Nilratan Bandhyopadhyay who has won several accolades for his musical genius.

A god gifted voice coupled with a charming personality has made Dipali Banerji a desirable name in the field of wedding musical programmes.
